The End of the Line
In 7 days my MobileMe trial is to come to an end. Prior to signing up for MobileMe, I had used and loved Gmail (more specifically, Google Apps). I’m extremely hesitant as to whether to dish out the some hundred and twenty-five bucks, simply because all I seem to be getting is an overall crappier mail service with some handy iPhone-related goodies.
There’s things I hate; the non-auto-refreshing web interface that throws out errors like it’s its job (apposed to the simple and constantly-updating Gmail web interface [which is backed by a larger community style and script wise]), the ‘I’ll push it if I feel like it’ mail which in all honestly offers more push than the push Gmail doesn’t offer (but things like ZPush, GPush, or PushMail can easily solve this problem), and finally, more related to the shitty web interface which refuses to keep me logged.
However, contrary that there’s some things I simply love; push mail (but honestly, it just doesn’t… I don’t understand what the hell it chooses to push), the fun iPhone related goodies (FindMyiPhone is fantastic and wins out any similar jailbreak apps), iDisk storage (though honestly, as soon as the Dropbox iPhone app comes out I’ll be set), and my definite favorite is MobileMe syncing. At this moment one of the few apps I’ve seen supporting MobileMe syncing is Wallet and furthermore it’s the only one I use. If things launched MobileMe syncing, that’d be fantastic but I’m still waiting and sadly I just don’t see others picking it up.
Currently I’ve almost jumped back over the fence to Gmail and my other MobileMe like fixings, but I’m just curious to see if anyone actually has any further arguments for me to stick MobileMe.
